Heard of any of them? Neither had we. And we’re meant to be a group of feminists.

Unsung explores the untold stories of four pioneering and inspirational female figures from our past, asking why they, and hundreds like them, have been relegated to the footnotes.

They were bold. They caused riots. And it’s about time their stories were told.

Unsung Collective and Lisa Holdsworth (Midsomer Murders, Ackley Bridge, Call the Midwife) present a new play about the women who made - or ought to have made - British history, with a soundtrack from Leeds-based three piece electronic band PEAKES. Unsung is supported using public funding by Arts Council England and the Fenton Arts Trust.

“Unsung is a one hour tour de force of compelling storytelling [...] “the best dramatization of the holy trinity – gender, race, class – that I’ve seen anywhere on page, stage or screen.” LondonTheatre1, *****

“Unsung is a punchy, unconventional call-to-arms that embodies the same spirit as Shakespeare’s Globe’s recent runaway success Emilia.” A Younger Theatre, ****

“This is more than a historical drama, Unsung shows that the struggles of these four women are still very immediate in the twenty-first century […] will send you home wanting to find out more about these brilliant women and seek out others like them.” West End Wilma, ****

“Unsung is a great night out. It will certainly inspire you.” London Pub Theatres, ****

"Unsung’s greatest feature is its strong performances […] it’s impossible not to come away feeling inspired.” Forge Press, ****

“Unsung is not just a play, it is a song […] as Unsung shows us, if you want a woman to be heard, you write a song. You write a song – then you sing it loud.” Culture Vultures
